Big girl Kimmy
She really is out of sorts, poor little girl. She keeps looking at me with this "What the hell happened to me?" look and seems confused.
She's also very clingy, and all over me, whenever I sit down, she is trying to climb on me and lick my face/ears. Reminds me of a young toddler (well, with the exception of licking!).
She also seems nervous when she's outside, barks at every leaf that moves thinking it's someone. She uses this nervous energy for digging holes in the ground, too. By the end of the heat out garden will look like the Moon - full of craters... ;)
Her appetite diminished as well, so now I feed her twice a day instead of three times a day as before. I think we'll stick to this even after the heat is over.
She wants to be petted and rubbed and scratched more than usual, too. She has this look of utter concentration when I scratch her behind the ears. She loves it!
Last night I played ball with her in the garden. I have this large ball on a rope that she likes to tug on. I threw it away from her and called: "Find the ball!" and she ran to it and grabbed it with her mouth. Then I called her to me while running away from her, to motivate her to run after me, which she did. Then I took the ball in her mouth and said "Aus" which is German for "Off", and she released the ball to me, and I praised her and petted her, then threw the ball again.
I plan to practice this with three different toys - the ball, a kong on a rope, and a dummy. After some time, she should learn the names of the toys (because I will use different commands - Find the ball, Find the kong, and Find the dummy).
So in the end, she should be able to know which toy I want her to find, when I place them all in a perimeter and tell her to find one of them. At least that's the theory. Let's see if I have what it takes to teach her this neat "trick" :) I think it will be also a great mental exercise for her.
