Back home!
The trip to Brno was nice... but the way home!!!
What was supposed to be a 6 hour trip home in the end took 18 hours!!! We took the bus to Prague, then boarded the plane to Luxembourg.
Unfortunately, there was a snow blizzard over Luxembourg and the airport had to close down. We circled above the clouds for about 15 minutes, then they sent us to Brussels instead.
So we landed in Brussels, Belgium. We waited in the plane on ground for half an hour to see what happens, then they told us they would send us to Luxembourg by bus. The whole country was totally paralyzed by the snow storm, roads were closed, so sending us by bus sounded like a stupid idea... and it was.
We got to the terminal and couldn't find the luggage on any of the 8 carousels. In a matter of minutes, I lost the woman who was supposed to lead us to the bus. I panicked, running around the baggage reclaim hall, searching for our suitcases.
In the end, a nice woman noticed my distress and asked her travel agent to help me out, of course, as I flew with the Czech Airlines who don't have affiliation at the Brussels airport, other travel agents didn't want to bother with me. I couldn't locate any airport employee either.
In the end, I found our luggage - thrown in the corner of the hall, nowhere near the carousels. So I got the luggage, but how do I find the bus that is supposed to take us to Luxembourg?
I went from a counter to a counter, the info counter sent me to some other, and this one sent me back to info counter. Nobody seemed interested in helping me. Menawhile, Gerry was snowed in at the Lux. Airport, 2.5 hours away.
In the end, I threatened to call the police if someone doesn't help me, so then one of the workers got me two places on a bus that took passengers of another re-routed flight to Luxembourg.
The 200 km distance between Brussels and Luxembourg that normally takes 2.5 hours, took from 4 PM till 2:30 AM the following day - 10.5 hours.
We finally reached the deserted Lux. airport, Gerry loaded us in our car, and we drove home carefully on the snow covered roads.
We got to bed around 4 AM.
